ACT-Test

ACT-Test

This device is used for compression tests on squares of micro-flute corrugated board. The board is placed in a U-frame with slotted side and end-pieces. The right-hand side swivels to open or close the frame.

The opposite side is pressed against the specimen by a screw-drive which applies constant lateral pressure. The frame-pieces plus the lateral load simulate the edges of a carton of the same material. During the test the compression die (upper part of frame) is pressed vertically against the specimen until failure.

The compression die is ball-mounted and thus maintains its position relative to the specimen throughout the test, regardless of the deformation of the load cell.

Under test the specimen deforms in a similar manner to a corrugated carton. Customers report an excellent correlation between the ACT test and a crush test on an actual carton. The first maximum force is used as a comparative result.
