Statoil is an international energy company with 35 year's experience of oil and gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf. Although the company has a worldwide presence, Statoil's main activities are located in Norway, with corporate premises in both Stavanger and Oslo.
As part of its commitment to research and technology development, Statoil has equipped its research centre in Trondheim with three Messphysik Kappa 100 DS creep testing machines. The creep testers are equipped with both a salt-water basin and a high-temperature furnace to guarantee maximum flexibility in carrying out creep tests in different environments.
Messphysik has developed custom-made extensometers capable of delivering accurate test results under both corrosive and high-temperature conditions. Messphysik's testing solution has enabled Statoil to gain valuable information regarding strain curves and crack-opening data.
